Summary:
The primary focus of the Sales Engineer position is to develop new accounts and increase sales with current accounts. Needs to be a high-energy, independent, self- starter with a widely diverse skillset who can drive business development, while demonstrating in-depth technical product design and ability to solve customer requests.Primary source of technical information during the sales process, as well as the ongoing support of our products installed in the field. The Sales Engineer will work in close coordination with the Business Unit Managers, Engineering Managers, and ContractAdministrators to provide timely and accurate technical sales support.
The pay range is $90,000 to $115,000 per year; the pay will be determined on a case-by- case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Interface with all levels of management and customer counterparts to perform the following sales responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain direct contact with key business and technical decision makers at customers
- Develop new business opportunities at new and existing customers
- Utilize financial models and tools for new business analysis
- Take a lead role in building relationships with decision makers to find new opportunities
- Promote a value-added, problem-solving approach to assist customers in specifying our products into their designs
- Have ability to understand hydraulic components and systems (how they work, how they interact with the aircraft, product requirements, etc.)
- Manage roll out of new customer products within the business unit team
- Establish and manage effective working relationships with all members of the business unit team
- Track customer bookings and identify discrepancies from the plan
- Provide the administrative documentation required (i.e. call reports, month end reports, year-end territory budget and forecasting, Quarterly Business Review updates)
- Always maintain a professional attitude and appearance
- Travel 25%-50% of the time
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field (Business or Engineering) required
- 1-3 years related sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience negotiating contracts
- Experience preparing proposal packages
- Strong presentation skills
- Knowledge of MRP processes and Customer Portal interactions a plus
- Knowledge of government contract clauses and contract law, including ITAR, FAR/DFAR’s a plus
- Mechanical aptitude with ability to read blueprints
- Basic math skills
- Relationship building skills applicable to internal and external customers
- Team contributor
- Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
