Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality through all levels of the supply chain of a vertically integrated manufacturer. The Quality Engineer plans and conducts activities with both internal and external stakeholders to control production processes through implementation of inspection plans, failure analysis investigations, and continuous improvement activities by performing the following duties. The pay range is $95,000 to $140,000 per year; the pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
  • Reviews all purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
  • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
  • Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
  • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards
  • Manages both customer and supplier facing quality functions for the applicable business unit
  • Performs failure analysis investigations to determine improvement opportunities

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality, or equivalent technical degree from four- year college or university; five or more years related experience in quality; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This position is ideal for an individual with experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 and AS9100 policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of FAA part 21 and part 145 requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of mangers, clients and customers.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of failure analysis and corrective action techniques and how to apply them to continuous improvement activities.
